Mayor Refuses to Let Citizen Play DVD at Council Meeting 1

On April 2, 2008, Mayor Lori Holt-Pfeiler of Escondido refused to let Wally Gutierrez, an informed citizen, play a DVD as part of Oral Communications. This was a video of then PPH Board President Dr. Marcelo Rivera at a previous council meeting stating his support for the downtown project. This video is available on YouTube. The Mayor's refusal is significant since Gutierrez brought a video at the last meeting but the City had technical issues and couldn't get the audio to play. They asked him to return with a DVD which he did. The Mayor was not at that first meeting. Also significant is that fact that the Mayor was on the PPH Foundation Board and has been a staunch supporter of PPH. It appears that she didn't want to allow this opposing view to be seen. Instead, she says this issue can be brought up at a later date and that she has made the decision that it won't be seen today.
