"MENTION MY NAME IN SHEBOYGAN" I first purchased this album, "Gay 90's With Beatrice Kay" in 1962 and have loved it all these years. Needless to say the LP was worn to a frazzle long ago. Then about a year ago I found another copy of this (monaural) recording on Ebay and promptly bought it. Now with it safely on CD I can make copies anytime. There is very little to be found about Beatrice Kay online. She had a gravely voice due to a mishap which ruined her classical singing career and it appears that she started recording on 78 rpm in the late 1940's. She also was a character actor and appeared in many television shows. The name of the wonderful Barbershop quartet singing behind her is the "Eligibles."
As yet, I have found nothing on line about them.

  • I would like to get this album. Beatrice Kay is really amazing. Every song she sings gives me a lot of energy; it fills my heart with joy and power. Thanks for posting this.

  • Thank you for wonderful memories of listening to this album at my grandparents house ! Please post more ........

  • WOW, THANKS, I KNOW THIS SONG DONE BY THE EVERLY BROTHERS.

  • What a great number!

  • I'm looking for "bye bye blackbird" from her Roaring 20's album... also "wish that I could shimmy like my sister Kate" and Oceana Roll. We had only 7 records when I was a kid, and no wonder I have such weird taste in music: Beatrice Kaye, Vivaldi, Flanders and Swann, Jack Teagarden, Billie Holiday, 2 chipped Tom Lehrer albums, and a Trini Lopez "fresca" promotional 45. I listened to them in steady rotation.

  • My theme song! I was born in Sheboygan! Please don't tell 'em where I am!

Great song, thanks for uploading it!!

  • This was my favorite album as a kid. Thanks!!

  • I bought this album at a thrift store for ninety-nine cents. That was money well spent, I should say! Great obscure entertainer.
