Tim is a philosopher or 'lover of wisdom' who is pioneering a simple new way to experience a profound spiritual awakening, which fully embraces our everyday humanity. He has spent his life exploring the awakened state he often simply calls 'The Mystery Experience'.

Tim has articulated his own revolutionary 'philosophy of lucid living' designed to help people go beyond ideas and actually experience a 'deep awake' state, which replaces out-dated spiritual jargon with clear new concepts which are simple to understand.

He has also developed a profoundly simple 'Mystery of the Moment' attention technique and a number of powerful 'I to I' practices, which quickly awaken practitioners to 'The Mystery Experience' and help them commune with others in oneness and 'Big Love'.

Bestselling Author

Tim has an honours degree in philosophy and is an internationally respected authority on world spirituality. He is the author of over thirty books that have established his reputation as a scholar and free-thinker.

He is best known for his groundbreaking work on Christian Gnosticism with his close friend Peter Gandy, including The Jesus Mysteries, which was a top 10 best-seller in the UK and USA, and a 'Book of the Year' in the UK Daily Telegraph. In recent years he has articulated his own 'lucid philosophy' in The Laughing Jesus, Lucid Living, and How Long is Now?

Standup Philosopher

Tim is also an innovative 'stand-up philosopher' -- a concept he developed from the ancient idea of a philosopher as a traveling 'spiritual entertainer' who transformed people's consciousness.

He is a passionate and playful communicator, whose enthusiasm for life is contagious. He is often featured in documentary films and chat shows broadcast by the global media, such as the BBC and the History Channel. Tim is the founder of The Alliance for Lucid Living, (The ALL), an organization dedicated to our collective awakening. He lives with his wife Debbie and their two children in Glastonbury, England.

  • Would you want to do that with the video or just the audio? Please email me at rick@batgap.com and we can sort it out. Thanks.

  • Sorry about that. I'm afraid that I wasn't aware of the audio imbalance as I was conducting the interview. It was due to using a new headset which was much more sensitive than my old one. At the moment, my post-production guy is very backlogged, but when he gets a chance, I'll ask him if he can balance the audio. It's a tedious process. I also want to re-interview Tim sometime. I like him a lot.

  • Actually, if you want, you can email me the audio track and I'll compress and send it back to you. I do post productions graphic and audio work actually, so I'd be happy to do that for you. Just let me know. :)

And yeah, Tim is great. I'm in the same boat as you...where you said you were devouring all the audio of his you could. I've only recently been drawn to the whole Spiritual path after many years as a cynical atheist. I love how Tim both engages subjective life and delves into our oneness.

  • I just wanted to say...from the wee bit I can hear, it sounds like a superb interview. I can hear your side of things and really like your interviewing style. I just really want to hear Tim as well. Thanks. :)

  • :( :( :( i can barely hear Tim's side of the audio. I really want to listen to this...any chance you could compress the audio or turn up his channel? I have the volume all the way up on every device I've got and can baaarely hear him.

  • (continued)

All stress concerning the breakup vanished, and in it's place was a much larger, almost cosmic, sense of rightness. All was ok.

I remember finding joy in everything. Walking down from the hill felt alive and breezy. I went to order some take out and felt such love for all the people and events that led to this food I was about to eat. I was so in awe of it all. I felt like I was observing the most poignant play, from inside the play. Sadly, I've yet to repeat this experience. :(

  • That "satori" moment he had at 12 corresponds to the first time it happened for me. I was 25 and my girlfriend, and first love, dumped me after 3 years together. I was crushed and went to a hill overlooking the city to think. After sitting in silence, all thoughts melted away..and this feeling of expansive love settled in. The next 3 hours I was in awe of life itself. Everything felt right and alive and so airy. I've been trying to get back ever since. It definitely felt like "home" to me.

  • Tim talks about a visitation by the "deeply awake" at age 12. For me, it happened at age 22 while relaxing on the living room floor, back in the 1980's. I had never used drugs and had no spiritual practice. Tim does a wonderful job bridging advaita with being human. This is exactly what I've been looking for...an equal who doesn't elevate himself as a "teacher".
