This game reminds me of a mix of tetris and pokemon puzzle league.

I loved the puzzle league game, besides how annoying the pokemon get when you keep chaining stuff.

ture. I believe that the mini fever is much suitable if you can build up long chain under pressure (like 7 chain under constant grey puyo dropping), and the big one is to maintain constant fever. Basically, the big puyo mode is asking you to set up strong and constant fever while the small one ask you to set it fast and knock the others at one fever and leave them unable to offset.
