Abandoned mines, flowing streams and snow near Silverton, CO

It's hard to believe that as you drive toward Silverton, Ouray and Telluride you're just a short drive from the desert. They call this region "The Switzerland of America" for a reason. I couldn't believe there was still so much snow there in June. You can see for yourself the wreckage of abandoned mining sites against the majestic background of the tallest peaks in the region with made for a unique landscape.
