The older homes look nice and cool, but the newer ones seem to built in theCalifornia style - desert like conditions where it is hot and wet, but cold at night. This will mean the California houses retain some of the night-time cooling during the day.

Sri Lanka is hot and wet, and the temperatures do not plunge at night. The newer style houses will thereore need plenty of air-con as they will retain their heat

They are also not open enough and will retain humid moisture.
