"Mr. X" was the great Paul Alter. A composer and director. The only man to precede and succeed Marc Breslow on The Price Is Right. Breslow learned a lot from Alter in early days of television and created a style different from Alter. Breslow was a fast paced director that brought magic to the sets of game shows while Alter was very basic and very good at being basic. There will never be another director like Paul Alter, may he rest in peace.

Paul Altar also directed Family Fued and The Price is Right. He retired from The Price is Right in 2000. He passed away on June 11, 2011 at the age of 89.
