@davinp Those cars make up 25% of the fleet so retiring them now would cripple service, especially during rush hour. You're right, they need to be retired, but they're not going anywhere until the new Kawasaki cars arrive in 2014.
Seeing as though the first car set is a Rohr consist, that would probably be the money train. Rohr cars, per WMATA policy, are no longer allowed to be the lead or end car while in revenue service.

only a 4 car train. The Rohr cars need to be retired immediately, but WMATA continues to refuse to retire them
