Cholistan , Rohi Lagri hey sawani

Rohi is one of the major landscapes of the Seraiki wasaib. Once River Ghagra and Hakra used to irrigate its vasteness , then it was a lush green landscape. Now it is characterised by sand dunes, dust and drought . Rohi, after creation of Pakistan has fallen victim to unsatiable hunger of Punjabi civil and Military Breucracy for land. Every year hundered of thousands of hectares are alloted to Punjabies on nominal payments. This unchecked land allotment is destroying the livelihood of Seraikies of this area , how depend on livestock. Land alottment to these Punjabi means less grazing land for drought striken livestock . While this all is happening we Seraikies sit on fence and seem indiferrent to what is happening to Rohi. Today Rohi calls us for its protection , lets move to protect this land of ours , if we dont act today , tommorow we will be slaves in our own land and homeless in our own home.

Well...I am in touch with few Hindu Seraikis from Dera Ismail Khan , who migrated to India in 1947....they have lost all the cultural traits of Seraiki wasaib....language being the biggest casuality ....they have adopted the culture of the place where they settled after partition..I think rather than thinking about them we should think about how to save our culture and our wasaib we are facing termendous pressure from Punjabi and Pushtoon cultures and their tendencies to encroaxh upon our lands
