Congenital Heart Disease (100 + kids with CHD)

Congenital heart defects are structural problems with the heart present at birth. They result when a mishap occurs during heart development soon after conception and often before the mother is aware that she is pregnant.

Defects range in severity from simple problems, such as "holes" between chambers of the heart, to very severe malformations, such as complete absence of one or more chambers or valves.

hi my names kaitlynn i have congenital heart defects i have vsd and pulomronary stenois and tof but this makes me wanna cry im am 12 years old and i have a great lif e I FEEL SO BAD FOR ALL THIS POOR KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!­!!!!!!!!!!!!!!but my grandma told me this story i was just born i wasnt breathing on my own and my mom and grandma were waiting for me the doctor told my mom and grandma i needed a mircle if i was gonna make it but my mom saw the doctor carrying me they started crying

My mum told me when I was born I had a heart murmur and that I would find PE really difficult. I wasn't sure if it had been an innocent or abnormal one, so I looked on a website and found out that symptoms of it are: Blue colourings of the skin; Fast breathing; expressive sweating; chest pain; Dizziness; Shortness of breath and others. The ones I mentioned I get quite a few times but I thought it was normal. Does this mean I have an abnormal heart murmur and is this heart disease related to it?

Unfortunately it's not something that we'll just "get well" from.It's a lifelong condition that can bring many new problems as the CHD patients turn into adults.
