it was obviously hand signals he changed his hand position for each card but Penn and Teller couldn't see it behind Johnathan

@DJxXxPlode mr west saw the cards jonathon picked. And even if he didn't the cards could be marked. Really the oldest trick in the book I reckon. But I'm no magician . I've never read a magic book in my life. but I may practice my little theory

the nail gun isnt really a trick. To fire a nail you have to push the gun on to something like he douse when he hits the board with it. But when he takes it to the hand or on to teller hes just resting the gun. therefore the gun will only fire air without a nail. Its a part of the guns safety feature.

Doubt it's memorization, they explained in one of their episodes that they generally do not rely on something as unreliable as that. It's more likely to be the pressure switch.
-
@ManosVSL I'm curious then. What was the move? can you tell me? could you PM me?
-
It's probably a combination of verbal and hand signals.
-
It's funny...the "move" is pretty obvious (weather it happened or not). The time Penn and Teller think they see the deck switch is blatant, and if you watch Penn when Ross walks in front of West, you can see Penn shake his head, as if to say "Oh boy, that was sloppy." I don't know if they switched the deck...but since the producers screen the tricks before hand, I believe the "move" was fake. The rest of the trick is probably verbal queues as others have suggested.

@weej266 There was a move during the time that Penn was talking about...It just wasn't a deck switch...

@shelby11211 They can't lie. They have to reveal to the producers how they do the trick beforehand. I'll agree with you that it seemed a little "red herring"-y to have johnathan walk in front of the cards to sit down. But really the card guesses were probably due to subtle cues that were either visual or verbal.

Just a note on the nail gun trick. I am not familiar with the particular nail gun they are using, but all the ones I have used actually have a pressure switch in the end. It won't release a nail unless you apply enough pressure to the end. So, not truly memorization. If it is memorization, then I am still impressed.
Another possibility:
Just think of this person = C.S. Lewis
Think of this person = Florwnse Nightingale
Who is that person = Houdini
And this one = Graham Bell
etc.. etc...
But still, most likely a deck switch or they added cards

the real trick here is how he cut out a profile of him when Jonathan Ross was facing him directly
