"Our Spirits Don't speak English: Indian Boarding School" is a Native American perspective on Indian Boarding Schools. This DVD produced by richheape.com uncovers the dark history of U.S. Government policy which took Indian children from thier homes, forced them into boarding schools and enacted a policy of educating them in the ways of Western Society. This DVD gives a voice to the countless Indian children forced through a system designed to strip them of their Native American culture, heritage and traditions.

  • this man has obviously been severally traumatized psychologicaly and culturaly from a young age, this is a crime which cannot be ignored, not matter what is taught in schools in the U.S and Canada, it must be confronted!!!!

  • @greenwarriorbunny I am about 1/3 European (& Roman Catholic raised) even though my grandparents are all from Italy. I'm truly ashamed of that part of me because of what they've done to indigenous people (among other things). The only European part that's good is that my great-grandmother was a Stregha (Stregheria) and the Amerindians respect the Stregha for their respect for Nature.

  • @lonewolf0866

we are all traumatized but we can do anything now just ask for respect our rights now, here and I hope, in USA and many others countries. Look into our hearts and forgive is the solution for a better world even if its hard to forgive but we can do it. Be and walk in peace for each of us on earth.

  • @Tami4497 what info do you have? I can try searching..I am only an amateur but I deeply understand your fathers ache to know. And to want to be able to pass that down

  • He is still in a great deal of pain due to his experiences. My heart goes out to him.

  • @colsif ...my grandmothers last name was whitehorn. We can't trace our family line past my great grandfather...it makes my dad sad that he can't pass that down to his kids. I wish I could find it out for him before he dies. He told me recently that he believes his grandfather died on the trail of tears. I hadn't heard about the trail of tears until he told me that. (I don't remember it being taught in school anyway...I could be wrong-I wasn't a very good student back then)

  • I have a grandson thats almost 4 and I can't imagine him in that situation. Im so sad for anyone that had to go through something like this. My great grandfather (whitehorn) died on the trail of tears and I cannot trace my lineage back any further than him. God bless you.

  • I'm a European mutt (German/Swedish/Norwegian/Polish/etc), but my great-grandmother 6x back was Anishinabe (Ojibwe), the only heritage I am really proud of. I was raised in an isolationist R. Catholic family, but a few key circumstances broke my chains & freed my mind from the brainwashing I rcv'd. I spent a few hours at a local pow wow on "thanksgiving" day & all I could do was cry... Without an agenda, it was easy to see how BEAUTIFUL this culture & people are. My ancestors are such SH&TS!

  • This was so sad to me when I listened to this man. His spirit is broken. I pray that he finds peace. It's a TERRIBLE and INHUMANE thing that they did to both the Indians and the Blacks. Some of my ancestors were Native American (Cherokee). I got a chance to spend time with my Great Grandmother (who was Native American) in her last year of life. She was a very wise and strong spirited woman. I am glad so many Native Americans are telling their stories because the TRUTH needs to be known.

  • I have no where else to turn. I had a dream, with in that dream was a lake of water. On the edge of the water was a house. I was standing on the water with a companion I did not know next to me. I said the reason why the house will flood is because it is so close to the lake. My companion told me I was wrong this is no lake and I looked and found it was a river. I seen something standing on a pillar of water If you know anything. It spoke and it happened. If you know anything please reply.
