Also I have the selfish wish that I had been able to see him as the wizard. Bert Newton was not a good casting choice. He doesn't play the character... Bert Newton plays Bert Newton, no matter what show he's in.

I never got to see Rob as the Wizard but I did have the absolute privilege of seeing London's wizard Clive Carter last month. His performance is how I imagine Rob would played him and it also put Bert Newton's efforts as the Wizard to shame! Seeing Clive made me feel much sadness that I didn't get to see Rob as the Wizard. Clive made me care about that character.....something Bert failed to do in the 3 shows I saw in Sydney!

If you all think that bert newton is a good wizard you are sadly mistaken. I was blessed enough to see Rob Guest the very first time I saw WICKED and yes since then I have seen Bert as the Wizard as well... and there is NO comparison, its like pitting a pomeranian against a Siberian Husky. a house cat against a Lion... Guest was more than a star, he was a genius, and bert can NEVER hope to fill his shoes.
