Axolotl Males Mating Dance

The two males today were in their mating dance with each other, they seem so tender with each other while dancing about with each other. Any other time if a foot was near a mouth it would be nipped at but while they mate they gentle and dont nip at all.
The female on the other side was getting excited too, she seems to have got fatter over night and her gills are really red too and swimming about quite excited, although she cannot have fertile eggs as she is separated from the males.
From what I am observing the female must be able to sense through smell or pheromones that the males have released their seed, as she cannot visually see them it must be through chemical smell thats released by the males., or maybe its the female that gets sexually turned on and send the smells/chemicals her self and that starts the males off.
