German subtitles, english speaking man and norwegian actors. It's too much languages for me,

Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I have added it as inspiration to a new multi-book-format:

@caliaa I can't tell you how glad I am to see such a comment. You are absolutely right!

The film looks awful... this has been my favourite book since I was eight, and it looks like they've ruined it. I won't be getting this then! Where's Plato and Socrates? And why is Hermes not a labrador?
Thanks for uploading the trailer- otherwise I would have bought it and been bitterly disappointed.

I saw this in Japan in 2002...never forgot it!
I jsut started reading the book Sophie's World and my brother told me about it so I'm sort of interested but teh philosophy parts are dead boring. But jsut by watching this trailer and having heard and read from the book, this movie seems to have nothing to do with the book. Am I just not understanding the trailer right? Or am I jsut not far enough in the book?

There are a number of different versions or "cuts" of the movie. The most widely seen are a 80 minute movie cut and a 2 hour tv movie version. The shorter the version the less philosophy there is and more general history. I have been told about but have not seen a 6 hour mini series version which is much more faithful to the book.

Was there a television series that was showed in Australia as well? Or is that the same as this movie? Can you get the series on DVD?

The movie was made by a TV company, the show version is an extended version of the same footage, this was shown dubbed in Australia, as far as I know that version has never been released on home video.
