@robbyjude, Disney aren't claiming to have created them, we're just showcasing them as new characters in the Toy Story 3 movie. I remember when they came out years ago and everyone wanted them!

@2piecess, I don't think they're based on the mameshiba, although I can understand why you'd ask - I think they have a soy bean pod toy, it's very cute!

My first thought was Mameshiba, but fair enough it's not copyrighting just because it's an edamame, it's just that you don't see edamame characterised often.
