Taxes are needed... an under Obama your taxes have been reduced... but I don't care... I live in Japan and I am not American, so I don7t have to pay taxes to the USA. I was so surprised to learn that USA citizens have to pay tax to the US government even if they live and work overseas... even if their income is already taxed by the other country... you still have to pay taxes on that money. Fair enough if you pay tax on money made in the USA... but why pay tax twice?

I think most taxes go to pay off debt.. "Everyone's got a mortgage to pay!" But having enough taxes to pay off your principal America, won't be that easy (especially since the phenomenon that (filthy) rich people are above the law in the US.. you won't tax them, because you can't!)

The whole point of a representative democracy is that we get to select the people who are making these decisions. But the people don't have any say as to who is going to be the CEO of a corporation. And it will be that person's job to do what's best for the corporation, not what's best for the people. And as soon as those two goals are in conflict, it's the corporate interests that will winover the students' interests because that person has to answer to his or her shareholders.

"If Schools were Privitized the Price of Private schools would come down signfiicantly."
Probably true. There's just no reason to assume they'd have solid educational standards w/o a public option. You'd also still be keeping most of the very poor uneducated, which in turn will almost certainly raise the crime rate dramatically. And if your solution is just going to be vouchers for every1 who can't afford school, then why not just call it what it is, public education.

Actually, there were numerous factors that ended feudalism centuries before the Industrial Revolution, not least of which was trade opportunities created in the Crusades, the transition from land-based economy to money, the increasing value of labor due to Black Death population reduction, peasant revolts, renting land decreasing the rights & responsibilities of lords, & most importantly the establishment of centralized gov't. The Indust. Rev. wasn't until the 18-19th C.
Yes, let's all hang out and enjoy the lovely comforts of Union Square Park, which of course is maintained and kept clean every day by magical elves who work for free while bitching about how our tax dollars are stolen by politicians. Surely none of those taxes go towards that park you take for granted.
