A steer is brutalized and clearly injured at the Pendleton Round-Up Rodeo. Ever rosy announcer Justin McKee assures everyone that the steer is fine, and that the people who maim and kill rodeo animals are "gifted by God."

"We treat the animals just like we treat our contestants". How odd. I didn't see any "knock the cowboy out and twist him up real good with a rope" events. I'll never understand how people who claim to be concerned for animal welfare can watch this, and not be physically ill.

@AnimalLeftist Yup, and you don't see the contestants standing out in open pens subjected to the elements as well as standing in their own urine and feces. Or transported all grouped together in trailers where they can't even lift their heads. These yahoos are only fooling themselves.

@Breakaywayroper11 Rodeo people are the ones who keep harping about 'praying' before they torment and harm the animals, as if beseesching God justifies abusing the animals. And no, no normal rancher will allow the kind of roping that takes place in the rodeo. Certainly there are ranchers who are as vile as the stock contractors who raise animals simply to be abused in rodeo, but those who keep the animals' welfare and safety in mind wouldn't allow it.

Its brutal. Period. They should admit to it and stand by it. Have you ever eaten a hamburger or steak? Take a vid of a slaughter house and then try preaching from your pulpit. We're a society that accepts using animals for our sole benefit. I don't agree with it, but it's reality. Deal with it.

@mrrockyrooster There is never any reason for any animal to suffer harm at the hands of man, even those animals in food production. There is no reason animals cannot be treated humanely all the time. It is man's choice whether or not he wants to harm an animal.

Turn a blind eye to it, but we won't. That's reality. Deal with that.
