A majority of our oil doesn't even come from the middle east anymore. We have VAST resources of oil and shales. We should be exploiting those until the price of renewables and oil meet.

Renewables are better than they were, but they are still not cheap enough for our energy demands. I firmly believe that we should fund research into more efficient alternative energies, particularly storage of solar power.But, until we get there, we should fully invest in oil, our guaranteed energy source.
