Plaka is not only the tourist center of Athens, but is one of the oldest towns in the world. This is the original location of a city that goes back four thousand years, and still a delight to wander through. Get off the main shopping lane and find some charming quiet neighborhoods.

  • I have been in athens, but there are to many gipsys that steel you wallet !

  • Pickpockets are found in every city in Europe -- Athens is not any better or worse. All you have to do is be careful, e.g. use a safety pin to close your pocket, leave your valuables in the room. Don't give up on a great city because of an easily-solved, universal problem.
