The government of Zimbabwe has annouced it's to issue new banknotes, to tackle a crippling cash shortage in the country.
Notes worth Z$250,000, Z$500,000 and Z$750,000 will go into circulation within the next 24 hours.
Al Jazeera is the only international news network with a permanent presence inside Zimbabwe. Our correspondent, Supa Mandiwanzira, takes a closer look at the country's cash crisis.
@Kryptonian250 Typical, play the race card when you cant come up with an intelligent rebuttal.Carter, Bush, Regan all did it, but NEVER on the scale that Obama has.The Chinese are buying 1 year T bills and Standard and Poors says that we are risking the loss of our AAA credit rating. We have seen gold skyrocket in the past 2 years and our buying power is greatly diminished. The cost of nearly everything has gone up from milk to electronics and now we have job killing taxes. 14 Tril and counting

The situation has improved with the use of foreign currency instead of Zim-notes.
In the long run however, the use of a currency that you can't augment (print) in step with your economic growth will impoverish the nation at the rate of global inflation.
