One of the most memorable books I'll ever read, I know that without a doubt. Thank you for chronicling your years together-- beautifully written with a reverence for dog intelligence and for nature. Thank you!

Thank you for the slide show. I just finished reading merle's door and looking at the pictures, aligning them up with the times in the book, my tears are falling again. What a wonderful dog.

I dare anybody who has read the book or had an amazing dog like Merle, to not have tears running down their face at the end of this video. Beautiful life and love. Thanks for sharing.

This is an incredibly insightful book, Ted references so many tidbits of knowledge for the reader. This just isn't "another book about a dog"- no matter how wonderful that in itself is, but this is an encyclopedia of knowledge peeking into the interwoven complexities of the world of canine and human. Our own pups never fail to teach us daily from their wonderful perspective. To truly shrug off the plastic of the daily grind, and really, truly live- every human needs a dog (or better yet, 2).
