Shame you don't like DC much - that's probably my favourite Fantomas album musically. It just sounds like one long psychedelic, horrifying soundtrack to the mind of someone who's undergoing surgery/bizarre vivisection in shady underground laboratory. Again the booklet will help, setting the mood by hitting the lights, & reclining.

Hehehe! The little foldy-drawer pop-up thing for that album is great, isn't it? Even if Peeping Tom isn't the best thing he's ever done... I think that's why he likes to do the album covers so much. He says it helps to explain the music ("makes it more seductive"). That's why (I think) with something as fragmented & choppy as Suspended Animation you've got a date-by-date illustration and an ingenious yet short one for PT. I have the calendar version of the former. It's beautiful...

Director's Cut is of course awesome. Fantomas are the one group that have released pretty much quality music through & through - the packaging on the latest two releases are something to behold as well. They were delayed for ages just so Patton could nail the artwork. The Suspended Animation gigs are a thing of wonder... I love how all the dates of the US tour were in April 2005, which basically comprises the track titles of SA!

I bought the self-titled Fantomas on the strength of Simply Beautiful alone... I must've been about 15 at the time. Needless to say I had absolutely no idea what to expect. Took me a little while to get a grasp on it. It's not easy music, especially when you're 15 and are still very naive about different sounds. I love it now though. Of all the current Patton-related projects Fantomas is my fave.
I have yet to hear DC all the way through, because it gets too weird..some of the sounds he does is amazing, and the band is just great, but it is definitely something I couldn't sit and listen to in my car or something, maybe cleaning the house, then yeah lol, I've never seen the packaging for the albums, I'll have to check them out, I just hated that it took almost a half hour to figure out PT! I love PT, it's one of my favorite things he's done, aside from FNM and Bungle

Oh yeah, I would definitely recommend investing in Delirium Corida & experiencing it as a whole. It's not for everyone, I guess, but if you "work" on it the whole way through a couple of times you're sure to get something out of it.

That's interesting to know. I seriously can not get much into Delirium, but the Suspended Animation I am liking each time I listen more and more to it, it grows on you, and it helps when you see it visually. Yeah, that makes me laugh though about Mike and his packaging, he loves fancy artwork and packages for his CD's..when I bought Peeping Tom, I almost threw it across the room because I couldn't for the life of me figure out how it opened!

Patton recommends playing it in the background while you go about your business but I personally get more out of it via this direct mental wankery. Headphones = essential. I'm such a fucking geek, I know...

Now is it me, or is youtube screwy with the comments?? they either go out of order, or when I check them after being emailed, they disappear! then reappear, it's driving me nuts....

Ahh, no, I have the same problem. At first I just thought it was my wireless connection being funny but it's probably a YouTube thing. It's really annoying - comments take hours to appear sometimes. This thing is more erratic than Chuck Mosely.
