@rwwagsneb --Kimberlyannwells67--Part III-The lyrics
-Sally ,take my hand (NYPD) Travel south cross land (down south to the tip of Manhattan-both PD/FD) Put out the fire (NYFD) Don't look past my shoulder (Smoke-chaos --PD/FD) The exodus is here (Get people out--PD/FD) The happy ones are near (Family waiting blocks away) Let's get together Before we get much older ( The wakes and the Funerals--SOME WON'T get Older--PD/FD)
I'm not a New Yorker. Perhaps a NY'er could add/ correct to this.

@rwwagsneb Part II-- Baba is a song about isolation,disillusionment and frustration. ie."Don't braise yer eye".. After 9/11 many people felt this--especially the folks carrying people out of a collapsing skyscraper x2. (The parallels to WWII-Pearl Harbor are eerie. ) The cops/firemen felt this most acutely. They also felt waves of the sense of duty and loss.
Baba was written for 1971. It applies to today--because the feeling is the very same--overwhelming frustration.
Who Predicted ? perhaps.

@kimberlyannwells67 Do you mean, Baba O'Reily ?
I guess, I'm old enough to remember the turbulent 60's where life suddenly got turned on it's head. Young people were disillusioned and frustrated. Riots and unrest. Violence. A war of attitudes.
When the hijacked jets hit the TT's --it was the 60's revisited, in a way. The NYPD/NYFD unflinchingly responded--and many died. The world was upside down. At war with ...an invisible enemy..an attitude. The Who sensed the anguish--and predicted it.

Bush just gave them the award, he's got nothing to do with who voted on it, and the weight of the award. Congrats WHO!

its about fucking time. everyone i know who considered themselves fans of rock and roll in the US were always weary of saying the who was the best or one of the best. they're my favorite band, always have been, but every time i'd say they were my favorite, people would be like, "WHO? WHO? the who?" and mock it, or be like, "mehh idk, theyre no beatles or led zeppelin." i love both the beatles and zep, but they were the usual suspects, and US for the most part didnt acknowledge the who..
Wow..... You're a douche, buchanan. They deserved the award and it doesn't matter who gave it to them- the fact that America is honoring the boys means more to them no matter who they receive it from. Chill out and stop hating, this video is up to celebrate the Who, not to bitch about George Bush.
