  • Damn, I used to have Virtuoso Duets on cassette tape and wore it out where it will not play anymore. Yes, cassette, I'm that old. I've been trying to find it again with no luck. I saw them in person at the TBAC years ago. AWESOME SHIT! If VD was released on CD I wasn't aware of it. Either that, or I was too dumb to find it. LOL. Anyone want to share? Just pm me. I'm talking to you shanecrisis. Hook me up.

  • The CD is available at amazon. I just ordered mine.

  • This is awful; playing so much of it forte takes the charm out of it. I saw these two at a Concert where ONLY Parkening was Listed; Parkening played a lot of short standards and then in the 2nd half out comes Brandon. I was so pissed. The place was so big it was a struggle to hear. The worst Classical guitar concert I ever heard.

They look like the Stepford twins here.

  • I'm gonna guess that you are definitely all alone on that opinion... But,, to each his own...

  • Hi Curt's cousin. Your amaaaaazing! Woo! You should teach me. And i know you'll do it for free =]

    God bless

  • Curt's cousin?

  • Parkening was a cunt ,he never even had the good grace to publish the name of David Brandon on his concert programmes.Born again twit.

  • @Rexicano You do have & are using your 1st Am. right, Rexi. Likewise, I, Keenanlevick, & others use the same right to challenge your hubris of music authority to pass sweeping judgments on the performances posted to You Tube, art that we encourage with praise, rather than discourage with trite, destructive, < worthless opinion. Thus, critics abuse/ exploit the 1st Amendment for an agenda of suppression. Rexi, try this, e.g., "I respect Parkening's version & like ___ about it, but I prefer..."

  • @Keenanlevick thanks for that well put rebuff of Rexi. Habitual critics do poison the waters: alienate us, especially the young, from enjoying art and the desire and will to express art. Harsh critics create fear, loathing, enmity... Rexi does not substantiate any of his claims with his own You Tube performance. Frankly, how can he expect us to buy his claims of master class with Christopher Parkening? Rexi needs to read Pedagogy of the Oppressed--Paulo Freire because Rexi teaches oppression.

  • @Rexicano Not challenging your First Amendment rights, at all. Just making a suggestion. Making negative comments about their appearance (totally unrelated to their music) isn't constructive, at all. Sorry to assume anything about your personal experiences w/ Parkening.

  • @Keenanlevick

How about this; you let me have my freedom os speech as all Americans have, even when you disagree with me and I'll let you have yours.

Secondly; I've met Parkening many times and spent time in his Master Classes and learned plenty from his early recordings and have made positive comments on some of his other videos...don't assume about things you have no clue about.

I'm not the only one who thinks he's gotten worse over the years. It's all opinions...nothing to cry poison about.

  • @Rexicano How about this: go champion the music of those artists you DO enjoy, and try to expose their sound to more people? Rather than spending time on youtube coming up with petty insults against (highly regarded) people you've never met.I've had negative concert experiences as well, but I feel no desire to poison the waters of those artists youtube channels. For all I know, they might have had an off night.Go get some exercise and try to create something nice for the world to see/read/hear.

  • I don't think his playing has changed THAT much from his early 20's.

Actually Parkening learned a lot of flamenco technique from his early studies with Celedonio and Pepe Romero and would even include flamnco as encores in concerts.

No truth to the rumors about playing in "cinema type" recital halls.

  • If you are looking for the Virtuoso duets, you need to hurry. the CD is no longer in production.. amazon is a good shot or mabey just mabey you can get it from Davids studio directly in Lubbock TX from the web

  • nice tune. sounds beautiful.

  • how is it surprising?
