This system, available in the Mondeo, or in the Galaxy and S-MAX with a larger capacity subwoofer housing, is the first in-house designed system from Ford. The engineers selected Sony speakers (mid-range and tweeters), and then called on a special robot called Hermina to ensure the highest sound quality possible.

Hermina's reproduction 'ears' house a myriad of microphones which accurately measure sound levels and the direction that the sound comes from. Detailed computer analysis then allows engineers to tune the system to suit the exact acoustic character of that particular vehicle.

The speakers and the subwoofer, which in Mondeo is housed in a 17-litre box cleverly located in the spare wheel housing, are fed by a powerful amplifier with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to give a loud and clear audio experience.
