The first PC demo I ever saw. It was amazing at the time, even without one of those newfangled sound cards everyone was talking about. Plus it only took 15 minutes to download the 200k zip file at 2400 baud! Well, that's assuming you didn't get a CRC error at 99%, then you had to start over. =P

Circa 1991.

  • Everytime I watch early PC demoscene vids I want to build a time machine.

  • This was FIRST Demo i caught during my school days. Was years ahead of the crappy EXE programs then (1989). Never knew i would see it here again.

    Kudos to the uploader!

  • @mode13h why not code an oldschool demo these dayz mate? letz get hans on !

  • Strangely enough, this demo popped into my mind when I ran across my old Wing Commander diskettes in a box, decided to search on YouTube to see if anyone has posted and sure enough it has! This was ground-breaking at the time. I used to leave this running on my 386/33 while doing my homework because I thought the music was cool. I remember when I got my first Pentium it ran so fast all the objects were just a blur!

  • I *still* am amazed when I watch this, considering it's very small file size, and the fact that I ran this thing just fine on a 286 / 12MHz, 1MB RAM, VGA graphics with an 8-bit soundblaster... This, and the inc loader, the two most amazing demonstrations of processing power I have ever seen.

  • Stuff like this took talent back in the day, maxing out the capabilities of computers with a minimal amount of code and graphics... nowadays, programmers have it easy and keep on churning out mass amounts of overblown and bloated tripe that hype "Oooh look, we're using someone elses particle engine"... this is why your game is in the bargain bin at Kmart 1 month after release...

  • wtf

  • Between this demo and bram gravelands of Ultraforce's Tetra Compositor I would of never fell in love with the scene, and started tracking. --B00MER/kfmf

@6.25-6.35: "If you have a fast AT installed, then you can see a water effect." Well, looks like you have a fast 286+ computer! Way to go! :P Anyways, thanks for uploading this video.
