Strangely enough, this demo popped into my mind when I ran across my old Wing Commander diskettes in a box, decided to search on YouTube to see if anyone has posted and sure enough it has! This was ground-breaking at the time. I used to leave this running on my 386/33 while doing my homework because I thought the music was cool. I remember when I got my first Pentium it ran so fast all the objects were just a blur!

I *still* am amazed when I watch this, considering it's very small file size, and the fact that I ran this thing just fine on a 286 / 12MHz, 1MB RAM, VGA graphics with an 8-bit soundblaster... This, and the inc loader, the two most amazing demonstrations of processing power I have ever seen.

Stuff like this took talent back in the day, maxing out the capabilities of computers with a minimal amount of code and graphics... nowadays, programmers have it easy and keep on churning out mass amounts of overblown and bloated tripe that hype "Oooh look, we're using someone elses particle engine"... this is why your game is in the bargain bin at Kmart 1 month after release...

From the Dutch guy who is currently the Development Director of Guerrilla Games (the developer of the Killzone series), Arjan Brussee.
@6.25-6.35: "If you have a fast AT installed, then you can see a water effect." Well, looks like you have a fast 286+ computer! Way to go! :P Anyways, thanks for uploading this video.
