just keep plugging and you will be great with it, you were doing pretty good there on that frame work you cut up

@rpeek A pilot arc is when you can hold the torch in the air (away from the metal) and a flame comes out instead of being in contact with the metal. It is much easier to cut with a pilot arc. You can hit the trigger right before contacting the metal your cutting.

@jacobg1777 Not that I know of. Don't even know what that is..

@rpeek Does you're plasma cutter have a pilot arc?
-
@rpeek I used to have a Hypertherm Max 42 but the "pilot arc" stopped working on it for some reason. I could still cut but I had to arc the tip of the plasma cutter handle to the metal for it to start cutting, I was a little upset because my "pilot arc" stopped working but it still did the job, it was really hard tho. I ended up selling it for 200 bucks.
most plasma cutters have a hard time with rust yup including ole USA hypotherm with pilot arc i believe if you grind the surface rust off you will get a better cut i have a chinese built unit and i love it wouldnt trade it for all the hypos made lol i use a hypo at work and cost is not very good when it comes to repairs you can buy two chinese for the cost of repairing the hypo

@hdoug5 I like this one quite well now that I've gotten used to it and sort of learned how to use it.

@zionjane You know, I've had mine about a year now and I like it better than ever, now that I've learned how to use it and all.. There's a few things you want to make sure you do, like keep the airline dry, and don't drop the tip and break it, but once you get the hang of it it's a dandy good little cutter for light metal
