As you know, I was pretty opposed to drinking. In fact, I would always say, "why would someone want to drink something that makes them act stupid?" But my opinion of it has changed a bit now, although I still acknowledge that it can be very dangerous if used irresponsibly, and should only be used in moderation (and ideally not in quantities that make you really drunk). I personally don't like getting really drunk because it makes me feel gross. I prefer to not go past the level of "tipsy".

I used to feel the same exact way back in high school. I kind of lost respect for the people who I saw drinking at a party. Since I've been in college, that perspective has changed a bit. I have friends who drink and I have friends who don't drink and I can honestly say I have the same amount of fun of hanging with friends who don't drink just as much as friends who do drink. Just think of it as another way to have fun. It's not the only way to have fun, but it is another way just to have fun.
