Teri Hatcher insults Filipinos

In the Premiere of Desperate Housewives Teri Hatcher made a remark about Filipinos - doctors/nurses. She was talking to her doctor and then she said "Okay, before we go any further, can I check those diplomas? Coz I would just like to make sure they are not from some med school in the Philippines."

The producers of the hit TV series "Desperate Housewives" on Thursday issued an apology for an insulting line that belittled the practitioners of the medical profession in the Philippines.

"The producers of Desperate Housewives and ABC Studios offer our sincere apologies for any offence caused [by the insulting remark] in the season premier," ABC Network said in a short statement of apology obtained by ABS-CBN North America News Bureau.

Why are people making a big deal about this? Filipinos make it seem like they're the only ones in the world who gets made fun of. Well guess what? You're not and this is coming from a fellow Filipino. EVERY race gets made fun of whether they be whites, blacks, Asians, Hispanics but I DON'T see them complaining about it. The Philippines definitely overreacted on this one. as they do. Thing is, they (not all though) like to throw the word "racist" but I will bet my rent money that these people dont even bother to look up the meaning of the word in the dictionary. Teri Hatcher was playing a fictitious character. Making what she said also fictitious and not real. Dignifying something like this with a protest does not promote Filipinos. It makes them look like oversensitive fools
