  • She looks like a young Keri Russell and Kirsten Dunst ._.

  • @radioman970 I kept guessing somekind of bluescreen work, but during that period SFX stood out. You could see the matte lines around the superimposed image. But there was nothing of the kind in these shots. That's what continues to baffle me to this day. I read something somewhere about bluescreen work, but it just doesn't seem possible nor likely.

  • One of my favourite John Barry tunes and beautifully sung by Fiona Fullerton. Somehow these seventies kids, thinking Mark Leicester had a very pure voice.

  • @Capt777harris I agree. That's some of the best work in the film. I love it when the rabbit starts trying to open the door and she's blocking it with her size. I'm sure that door is miniature. But you're right, that's hard to figure out the big to small, small to big effects. I'd guess blue screen or green screen mixed with forced perspective of some sort.

  • @radioman970 The table effect was split screen, but still very impressive, especially for the time. The effects that I marvel at are the shots of her in the white rabbits home where she grows big and shrinks again. I used to work in special effects, and I still can't figure out how the BLEEP they did that :)

  • @Capt777harris I'm afraid a clearer restored transfer of the film would reduce the effect to slightly cheesy. hee! But the effects are great. I love it when she's standing next to the table when she shrinks or gets taller. No CGI needed. :)

  • @radioman970 I meant "jump" cuts not "just". Oops. Missing frames, in other words. It's not too bad though.

  • @brianwyant try Oracle (region 2) or ACME-TV (ebay seller). They both look this good. I think ACME has better sound quality. Oracle edges it out in the picture department. also, I believe Oracle doesn't have print damage like ACME does. There are several bad places with ACME that are a little jarring, just cuts mainly. But since ACME is R1 it's the one I'll watch until something better comes along. I paid $10 for it on ebay.

  • I own every version available on DVD. The closeup scene of her singing is always the grainiest one in the film. But I love this scene. Definitive "Alice" for me.

Here's how the DVDs measure up: Oracle Entertainment (Region 2 letterbox)>ACME-TV (ebay seller-nice letterbox print, some damage but good picture and better sound than Oracle)>>>>Screen Media (full screen, okay picture but unacceptable sound)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Platinum Disc (a VHS would probably be better).

  • This is the most crisp, clear print I've seen of this film! Everything I've seen on the market for home viewing is of very poor quality...
