This was my 2007 National History Day Individual Documentary. I won the Regionals and didn't even place in States (the judge said it was contemporary and not history, that jerk haha). This is in honor of the amazing Quecreek Mine rescue in Somerset, PA in 2002. Nine miners were trapped by a flooded mine. I believe that God was with those miners considering all of the minute details that had to be perfect otherwise this would have resulted with nine casualties. I hope you enjoy this video.

No stealing this for future entries. You wouldn't be able to any way because the rendering is at such a low quality so I could upload it. Just messing any way

  • god bless pennsylvania and for pennsylvanians helping thier West Virginian brothers and sisters unionize in the early 1900s

  • @WVliberty While unions played a large part in the implementation of safety practices, that is by no means the point of this project. Now that doesn't mean that you are not entitled to that statement, but allow me to put the disclaimer on it that says, it is irrelevant to this video (along with the fact that the purpose of the union is largely outdated, but unions today are just implemented for unreasonable leverage against the ideal practices of capitalism and competitive wages).

  • What is the name of the song being played in the background at 35 seconds and 1:09. Thanks. Your documentary was great.

  • Great video!!! and nice selection of music!!!!

  • @SVBerk65 unions are an important part of mining history in this country, some unions suck and some are good just like corporations, the unions are the reason why mines are safer today, i dont know how you can say thats irrelevant to a video thats has to do with mining

  • That is astonishing that the Federal Coal Mine Health and Safety Act wasn't passed until 1969. I had no idea. I had figured stuff like that had been addressed perhaps a generation prior.

    Great work. Thanks.

  • The news about the Chilean miners reminded me of the Quecreek rescue. I searched for video and found yours. Well done!
