Take A Chance {A JB Love Story} Chapter 31

[Lauren's pov]
Is it me. Or did one of my best guy friend just kiss me. I placed the tip of my fingers and brushed it over my lips. I stood there in silence still in shock of what happened. I shook it off and headed upstairs. I pulled my dress all the way down to my feet and hung on a hanger. I put on some comfy PJ's and looked through my drawr when I found and old diary that I owned. It was the diary I wrote when I was in New Jersey. I opened it with the key and read entries about my mother's death, my dad's drug addiction, and whatever else was going on in my life. Then I read something that only gave me the same bad memories that i'm afraid of. It was a secret I could never tell anybody about. I read the many entries written almost making me want to cry. I locked it and threw in under my bed. I shut the lights off then got under my bed covers and closed my eyes until I drifted to sleep.

{next morning}

I opened my eyes and squinted at the light in the room. I groaned as I got up and slumped to the bathroom and brushed my teeth throughly. I got out and searched through my closet for something simple to wear for a walk at the park. I picked a white v-neck shirt with light blue ripped jeans and white sandals. My phone vibrate on top of my side table. I look at the I.D. It was Joe. I bite the bottom of my lip wondering if I should pick up. I hesitated and pressed the talk button the pressed the phone against my ear
"Hello?"
"Hey..Lauren. Do you have any plans today?" he asked
I stayed silent. What should I say? Should I lie to him! aaaagh!!!
"Hello?" he asked wondering if I was still there
"uh.....No. Not today"
"Great. I was thinking that maybe you can come over and hangout"
"Yeaaaaaah...uhu..Sure"
I hung up before he said another word. I let out a long hard breath and sat down on the edge of my bed. Why did I just agree to hang out with Joe? Ugh. Looks like i'm avoiding Joe too, and yes i feel bad about it since he was always there for me when i needed it but after last night, there is no way I can handle seeing him today. I sigh and left downstairs and made blueberry waffles for myself to enjoy. I sat down and chomped away. I thought about last night as I chewed away until I was completely finished
I sighed to myself and ran upstairs to my room. I stood in front of the mirror then let my hair fall down past my shoulders. I shook it a little then nervously stepped out of my of my own house. I took little steps towards the Jonas' house and when I finally stood infront of their door. I steadily knock lightly hoping that they wouldn't answer. The door swings open, luckily it was kevin who opened
"Hey." I said
"Oh hey Lauren, Joe said to meet him in his room when you come"

"Oh great" i said under my breath. I walked in and stomped upstairs and cracked the door opened. He typing on his laptop and didn't even notice i walked him.
"Hey" i whispered
He looked up and smile at me
"Lauren, Hey! Come sit" he said while patting the space next to him
We sat there in an awkward silent moment
"So about last night...."

Ugh. I just knew he was gonna bring that up
"That kiss we had. I didn't mean to do that, it was a total accident and it meant nothing"
I sighed in relief and said
"Good. For a second I actually thought you liked me." I starred in his eyes and it looked hurt for a moment.
He moved the piece of hair hanging freely on my face to the back of my ear. i felt uncomfortable even when he does that. I stood up and walked towards the door
"So, i guess I should go"
"No! wait, you should stay. I mean, we all can go hangout here for a while. How about a movie downstairs? We could watch a scary movie like The Haunting in Connecticut"
"u-um. Sure. Sounds...cool, I guess I'll just be downstairs"

"Lauren. Are you trying to get away from me?" He sounded hurt when he asked and I instantly felt bad for him. I wanted to say yes, but I just knew it will hurt him
