'So I travelled many miles. But the biggest journey I took was inside myself'
It is now twelve months since Helen's inspirational journey with cancer came to an end.
She was buried in the churchyard of her beloved St Mary's Church, Sawston
on 15th June 2010 age 51 but continues to raise awareness of the disease that is responsible for 16,000 deaths in the UK every year.
Helen's final years were full of optimism and she threw herself into charitable work, especially with
Beating Bowel Cancer, never refusing the
opportunity to tell her story on local radio,
newspapers and national magazines.
I know Helen would love you to forward this blog
and help keep alive her awareness of a disease
that we can all beat if we act quickly.
Thanks for reading and sharing.
Hi Amazing People! I trekked to Macchu Picchu in May 2009! It was an amazing way of celebrating being alive, being 50 and being able to give something back to a charity that makes a huge difference to so many bowel cancer patients and their families (like ours). Some of you may already know that my beloved father was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer, and is now beginning his recovery from major surgery. Thats 4 of us now in my family (me & both my brothers too). So yet another reminder that I must take action and continue raising awareness (so that more people are more aware of the symptoms of the disease).
Thanks to Mike for helping me share this message
