Finale of ''The Maid of Orleans''

One of the most terrific moments of all Tchaikovsky operas: the finale of "The Maid of Orleans" (Orleanskaya Deva). Joan of Arc is sung by Irina Arkhipova and the conductor is Gennady Rozhdestvensky.

My favorite Tchaikovsky opera! The finale never fails to bring an audience to its feet! (But critics hate it because ... it's Joan of ARC, man ... and it sounds so RUSSIAN ...) (It is, of course, based on Schiller's German drama.)

@ATsarIsBorn Really? Two of the reasons I like this opera - and especially this finale - so much are that it's Joan of Arc (IMO one of the most interesting women in History, one who came from nothing to transform a country, unlike the dozens of queens of other operas), and it sounds SO Russian. :-)
