Sylvia - Adult Self Sufficiency
Sylvia says she can't believe how her life has changed. She once was a prisoner in her own home- the victim of an abusive relationship- with no hope of escape.
Now she is a confi dent, self-suffi cient woman with a steady job and a loving family.
And she gives the credit to the Mile High United Way supported Work Options for Women and its program that gives impoverished women the chance to gain the skills and confi dence they need to succeed through hands-on training in the food service industry.
"I was once a victim and now I am the victor," says Sylvia," and for that, I am grateful."
Your support of Mile High United Way's Adult Self Sufficiency Initiative is helping people every day by providing job training
and workforce development, financial education and savings
programs and services
One in five Colorado households lacks the income to make ends meet. Many of those families just need a "hand up" to get them on the road to financial stability and self-reliance. Your gift to Mile High United Way supports financial education, job skills training, scholarships for low-income adults and basic needs for families such as shelter and food.
