yup, this is the REAL super mario bros. 2. the one that came out outside japan wasn't actually a mario game to begin with, it was just a sprite edited version of a game called Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic.

@IrishKyokushin I'll see if i can get a Wii, or i can get the Famicon system :P

@Themaniacnextdoor ok. Atleast you know the option is there. A Wii is alot cheaper than an X-Box or PS3.

@IrishKyokushin Gurg. I'll just try and find a ROM. I don't need to get any more game systems.

@Themaniacnextdoor It was released as part of the Super Mario Bros. All stars game as the Lost Levels and its available on the Wii Virtual Console as well under The Lost Levels as well. Nintendo thought this game was too hard and thats why they remade Doki Doki Panic as Super Mario 2 instead.

I wish that this one the one released out here, i can't find it anywhere!

apparently Shigeru Miyamoto (the creator of SMB1) didn't have anything to do with SMB2(J) because he was already working on the first legend of Zelda. The game that because the US SMB2, doki doki panic, WAS made by Miyamoto.
i think that makes the US SMB2 a REAL SMB game.

@MrWittyUsernameHere They called it lost levels because this is the SMB2 that Japan released. NOA thought americans would find it too challenging so they edited sprites on a different game and that's what was released as SMB2 in America. Lost Levels comes from when they finally decided to release it in America, it was release with SMB All Stars.
nothing i tried
