This video showcases one of my ships, during my 21 year career, the USS Detroit in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Most of the STREAM videos and more with USS Gettsyburg, USS Enterprise, USS Cole and so many more ships was taken in the Atlantic, Gulf of Arabia and Mediterranean. A good friend of mine, a fellow CHief, had a purple heart and was on the Cole when it was blown up. It was great to see the Cole repaired and 100% again, daring to plow the Arabian waters all over again and without fear, compromise or regret. A good fist right int he face of terrorists and snub of those to them!

  • Wow. That brings back some mostly good memories. I spent 3+ years 1991-1994 on the Dirty D. I kind of miss her sometimes. I knew that ship SO well after serving in 3rd (Deck) Division and then switching over to R Division. Wizzzzz, were you on board when the bus went off the pier? That was some scary sh*t.

  • It was great to see her again. I was on board during red sea cruise dessert storm. That was intended to be the last great (6 month) cruise. Would love to hear from anyone aboard her.

  • Wow! the USS Detroit AOE 4...I was on this ship from 2003-2004. I was on Operation Iraqi Freedom. I was in both MP01/MP02...then I switched to CS...I had good and bad experiences on this ship. But I will never forget my first deployment and all the interesting port visits we did. I wll remember them for as long as I live...

  • Ahh the dirty D. I was onboard during this videos. I was on the dirty D from 01 to decommision. I was in MP-01 down in the boiler room. She was old and it was challenge keeping her together but there was nothing like her. The crew on that ship was unlike any crew i have been a part of. That was a fun Med-cruise. I miss Dubai just thinking of those cruises. Thanks for posting.

  • 2nd division, and helo ops 1997-2001

  • Thanks for making this video. I was on this Candem Class, Fast Combat Support ship, The mighty U.S.S. Detroit A.O.E.-4, international call sign NDWQ circa 88-91 as a Signalman. Sinse you was with flight ops you may be interested to know I was topside on the signal bridge when that CH46 had a rotor failure and all hands where lost. I have one picture that I took as the Detroit made a hard turn to port to avoid hitting the wreckage and I snapped the picture looking straight down.
