Episode 1: Life Darwin & Everything

Aired: August 4, 2008 on Channel 4, Richard Dawkins presents the ultimate guide to Darwin and his revolutionary theory of evolution by natural selection which Dawkins considers the most important idea ever to occur to a human mind. In this powerful three-part polemical series, Dawkins explains who Charles Darwin was, how he developed his theory, what it is, and why it matters. He reveals how Darwin changed forever the way we see ourselves, the world and our place in it, and hopes to convince us that "evolution is a fact, backed by undeniable evidence" According to recent polls four out of 10 British people still believe in God as the creator of the universe and everything in it. As a scientist, and Britain's best-known atheist, Dawkins believes that such people simply dont know enough about the evidence for Darwin's entirely natural explanation of life on Earth evolution.

  • It's easy to understand Dawkins' feelings. Evolution tells us that we are linked to every other living thing that has ever lived. How can somebody not be moved by such a thaugt?

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • @lordthorpez Worship, may indeed be a strong word, but reading the likes of Sean Carrol in "Remarkable Creatures" puts a lot more in my basket than this new documentary set to debut with several well named Hollywood actors, including what looks like Kristen Dunst.

  • @Zeelxx I'm not a creationist. I live near that museum in Northern Kentucky, and I refuse to go. I believe that worship can take many forms. The point of the article is that too much emphasis is put on the man, and too little on his idea. Take for instance the amount of credit that goes to Wallace, his bulldog. Very few people are familiar with the fact that, at least according to several interpretations, he would not have achieved fame with this idea had it not been for him.

  • @lordthorpez no one 'worships' Darwin. Stop reading your subpar creationist articles.

  • I recently read an article that sums up an interesting point. We shouldn't worship Darwin, but we shouldn't worship God either. Sacrificing knowledge, or even the possibility of knowledge, for anything is lunacy.

  • @managarm1349 You're right. The Koran makes it clear that there was a creation. People like us need to stand up against these evolutionists.

  • I don't like the way that religion belittles science. Science has evidence and religion (there are sooooooo many) has none. Man invented religion. Evidence invented science. Religion is arbitrary. I don't know how people can defend it like they do. 911 is an example of a result of competing religious certainties. It is a stone age era theory vs. modern technology in todays time.
