Jacobo Meque throws warm up tosses before appearing in a September 2 California League game between the Inland Empire 66ers and the Lake Elsinore Storm. The southpaw was originally signed as an amateur free agent by the Baltimore Orioles in 2000 out of Villa Altagralia in the Dominican Republic. Meque is now in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization after stints with the Orioles, the Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals. The Dominican left-hander was 5-2 with a 4.72 earned run average with the advanced Single-A Inland Empire 66ers in 2007. He struggled with wildness by issuing 42 walks in 55 and 1/3 innings, but his 78 strikeouts proved he's still a hurler worth gambling on.
