it does sound somewhat cello-like. The tone is really thin, though. Either way, it looks like a fun crossover for people who play the guitar, but don't want to learn a new tuning system. Every musician needs goofy instruments like these in their homes.

Fretted, bowed instruments with 6 strings called Viols have been around since the early 17th century. If anything, a 'Cello is a jacked up Viol.
