This speed run was played on normal difficulty by JFCalibur (jamin.fletcher@gmail.com) and his channel is youtube.com/jfcalibur88. Cutscenes were skipped in order to maintain the pace of the run (and they would probably double the speed run if included). Batman: Arkham Asylum works very different from all of the other speed runs I have completed. There are auto save points in the game and your playthrough is recorded on one file. In other words you could not go back and play the first stage of the game if you had already completed it. So to do this speed run I had to do a few rooms more than once. Once I was satisfied with the way a particular room went, I would move on to the next area. I used dissolves and tried to match the transitions between rooms in order to improve the run visually. Otherwise the cut points would appear jaring. In every other game I have done a speed run for, I always had the option to load from a previous save point if I was not satisfied with the last area I had played. But that luxury is not possible in this game so you will have to bear with me :)

There are some rooms in the game that can be left even while the enemies are in alert mode. There are other times when Batman will approach a door and refuse to leave for this reason. So when you see me do battle it is because I felt that it was not possible to progress otherwise. I do not go for high combos or special takedowns; just the quickest way to clear a room that I can. I do not claim credit for all of the strategies seen in this video. In fact, I had a run halfway done for this game before I saw someone using the batarant + ground pound strategy to shorten a room. After seeing that I started over and it greatly improve the run.

I hope you enjoy all 3 parts of this speed run! Maybe it will get you to want to play through this game at least once more before Arkham City is released!
