The Chelsea Pensioners are a British institution, founded in 1682 by King Charles II, their home the Royal Hospital in Chelsea is home to 310 Chelsea Pensioners.
The 7 Chelsea Pensioners "Men in Scarlet" is a group brought together by their love of singing, and their desire to help the Chelsea Pensioners' Appeal raise funds to refurbish the old dormitories built by Sir Christopher Wren which are known as the Long Wards where the Chelsea Pensioners live still in conditions which Wren would recognise if he were to return today.
Some of the group have a history of singing, and some nothing more than the love of a great song. The 7 men have a total age of 546 (nearly twice the age of the 4 main Rolling Stones) the oldest (John) being 88 and the youngest (Michael) being 67 .
The album has been produced by Nick Patrick who produced last years double platinum album by the Soldiers and feature classic songs such as Danny Boy and White Cliff's Of Dover which features Dame Vera Lynn. In addition to Dame Vera Lynn, the album also features stunning performances with Katheryn Kenkins, Janey Cutler (from Britain's Got Talent) and The Soldiers!
