sigh, how long before WebGL is available on all platforms ? Remember flash is running on like 94% of computers out there, and it already has 3d engine. I wish WebGL is available as soon as possible. I do not like flash at all. In the meantime Unity3D sounds like a good game engine for browsers too.

there is O3D from Google, Virtools, Java applications, and my favourite: Lateral Vision's 3D to just name a few competitor.

@zaibolint

i think it'd also be interesting to note Microsoft's stance, seeing that they already have such huge interest in DirectX, it will be no surprise MS unleashing something on their own for IE. WebGL cross platform adoption will not be successful due to Microsoft's conflicting interests....No developer in right mind would develop 3d app's both in WebGL and DirectXfortheweb.... in that case Plugin download like Unity3d sounds like the best solution. i would like to hear what other ppl sa

It's not the connections that make it possible, it's the improvements in speed on important web techniques like HTML and JavaScript.

Well, actually id Software did something like that called Quake Live. But it has nothing to do with webGL. WebGL should bring more standardization here

because we live in 3D. Not to mention games that run on any decent computer with a modern browser.
