  • Wow, thanks. This is really helpful. I've been coaxed to start writing a novel or a few short stories, and although I figured I could work out the plot on my own, I was very worried about how to create a character from scratch. I'd read elsewhere that you should "be able to say exactly what your character was doing on their sixth birthday", however I think this will let you discover more about your character, to the point that they're almost making their own decisions as to where the plot goes.

  • Thank you

  • You're so cute... you have a great personality.

  • I like it its a good idea

  • Very 0:14 cute laught. Thanks for sharing your videos, I think you're awesome.

  • most of the characters from my stories are based on friends or random people I meet. The problem I have is that I always end up having tons of characters and I'm afraid it might be confusing for the reader.

  • I like some of the tips. For my characters, I usually base them off my mom or dad or my rellies because they don't read my stories.

  • I am replying to all the comments made so far on this video starting from the top...

    rinkerall, your very welcome.

Raenum, not all authors take this path infact though I have based one character on a person that I know, normaly I start from the begining and create the character from the day he/she was born. sometimes even before that.

NewYorkS4U, thats a great idea and I'm happy to hear how well it's working for you.

stitch 99, yay rubber band ball!

    woops out of room...

  • I'm already on the way with this. In my personal time I carry two notepads: one to write down possible scenarios and another to write down names and descriptions of people I either know or don't know. For creativity on my names/descriptions notepad, I can combine names and descriptions of two or more people to create a character. That's my reason to write, I wanna express creativity to the world and introduce new aspects and elements nobody hasn't created yet. I'm tired of the same things.

  • I realize I'm not focusing, but RUBBER BAND BALL!!!!

I've been working on mine for years and it's huge!
