This is a spectacular live recording of Thin Lizzy's 'The Rocker' when it was newly released. They were performing it in Golders Green North London at the Hippodrome (roughly seats 3000) for the BBC. I am pretty sure this was video recorded also as it was a television studio as well as venue at the time. I also love this version cos the PA did a great job with the sound levels of Phil's bass. Enjoy!

Hello again and welcome to another BBC and concert programme from the Hippodrome Golders Green in London. With us for the first time on the concert tonight we've got a band from Ireland who made a lot of new friends with their hit single quite recently. Would you welcome please, Thin Lizzy!
... Well the band are gonna open up in fact with a number I think we can dedicate this one to the front row here because it's called The Rocker!

Yes I knew I had excellent live versions of their early stuff just took me a while to find. I have more, some of which I will be uploading tomorrow. One of which is 'Slow Blues'. I cannot find a live version of that anywhere else! ;) Glad you enjoyed buddy!

i liked the way phil played around with the bassline during the solo, everytime i play this on bass during the solo, bells playing always hypnotizes you to play along with it, sounds like thats what happened to phil here
