Can never decide which Clovers tune I like better. Oh well, guess I just have to listen to all of them over and over again. Poor me.

That' because the Ray Charles Orchestra's version of "One Mint Julep" is the one that most people of my generation (Baby Boomers) remember hearing on the radio...

The Clovers began in the beginning and held the line all throught the 50's. You can hear new and beautiful harmonies each and every time you listen. Truly the best of the best.

The Clovers hit #1, in 1952 with "Fool Fool Fool". Then 12 years old, I became a big fan of The Clovers. My all time favorite was "One Mint Julep", with "Love Love Love" a close second. GREAT! teenage memories.

You are correct about this being the original recording from '51....but you are incorrect about Ray Charles having the version that every remake since then is based on. Clovers reached #2 by early 1952. Nothing compares to the original version, including Ray's, although his charted at #8 in 1961. I'm surprised afficianados on here let you get away with that statement. I couldn't.

This was a take 2 but the lead vocal is slightly different from the single thatw as released. It's still good tho! Love it.
