The Tyne and Wear Metro Open Day at Gosforth Traction Depot 2010

Celebrating 30 Years of Metro! (1980-2010)
This video shows the main celebration and cutting of the Metro Birthday Cake followed by a Tour of the Main Part of the Depot. Most of the Metrocars including both Heritage Trains 4001 and 4002 and all Advertisement Liveries were at the occasion so Metro passengers can look around in the depot and around the Metrocars at the Depot. In Metrocar 4001 you could go into the cab and operate some of the controls (you see me do this near the end).

It was a lovely event and it was extremely busy however few teenagers went. We need somwthing to target the teenagers such as getting them involved. The contract for the livery on 4075 is almost over so I will suggest to DB something such as grafitti on the train or something like that. Something that gets them inlovled and makes them proud.

I would have liked to have gone too...

Events such as this are so important for raising the profile of the transport systems within the local community (especially for youngers - might even help deter them from unsociable behaviour) and showing that there is more to transport than just a train arriving at a station when a person wishes to travel.
