Color television broadcast as a standard in Israel began very late, on 1983, due to stupid governmental policies.
However, this is the beginning of the main news edition "Mabat", the first one to be aired in color. Anchors: Daniel Pe'er and Dalia Mazor.
that nanny state mentality was that people would waste their money on buying more expensive imported tvs, so the color was filtered out. i heard that some clever engineer came up with an attachment that put the color back in and he made a pile of money, so then with the eurovision contest, and fewer socialist dogooders running things, that ridiculous practice was ended.

I remember this. We bought a colour TV a year before. It sounds stupid now, but foreign broadcasts that were in colour, had the colour bleached out. So we watched them in B&W, but sometimes you could see the colour breaking through. It was only because Israel won the European song contest, and staged the contest the next year in Colour. That we in Israel finally got a full colour service.
