From Mike Gilbert, Regional Chief from APEX;
"For the last two nights and the week ahead I am home hosting three people from the UK who are traveling around Australia raising funds for International Childrens Book Aid. They started in Brisbane with just a bin bag to wear and no money, food, clothes etc. They have begged and worked (in lieu of donations) their way around the top end of Oz and are now at my house in Mindarie after I heard there story, felt sorry for them and put them up (hopefully they havent emptied my house today whilst in work!!).
They are asking for donations of tinned and dried food, fuel vouchers and Vodafone vouchers and are also in need of an old second hand phone. All money donated goes to their charity, they are not allowed to use cash themselves.no mean feat and their stories are hilarious. They raised $800 yesterday just on my suggestions of going to various busy pubs and today they are hitting the northern suburbs shopping malls.
Have a read of their website www.ascheekyasyoucant.blogspot.com which tells the story. Please consider a small donation to their charity site http://www.justgiving.com/ascheekyasyoucant or alternatively empty your cupboards and bring some tinned or dried food in for me to pass on to them.
Mike"
